…to create a spectrumanalizer WITHOUT playing a sample with fmod??

Hello!
I create my programms with Delphi6 and I’ve got the fmod-version 3.70.

Example:
Somebody is using WinAMP to play his/her favourite music. Then the screensaver loads. The screensaver is programmed by me and should react to the music (or something else) played in WinAMP.

Now I have the following problem:
Because the sample isn’t played with fmod I have to get the required informations from the hardware. Is this possible with fmod??
begin
if fmod.possible then
How???
else
Shit!(Sorry.please);
end;

I allready didn’t understood the handling of fmod in this case and the HTML-Help doesn’t really help in my opinion. Is anybody out there, who can help me to understand the fmod??? It seems to be a very sencefull app.

Thank You very much.

[b:2qcnsj1j]PS:
The sample could also played with MediaPlayer or other soundprogs. I do not mean “How to use the WinAMP-DSP-PlugIn”! ALL played sounddata should be monitored by the screensaver.[/b:2qcnsj1j]

You can’t monitor the sound output of another program Like WinAMP, you can only do this if you play the song from FMOD. WinAMP ist schlecht, ich finde es ist hesslich und FMOD ist besser als WinAMP. Ich bin ein Deutscher student.

Okay. This is the answer, I wanted. Bye bye fmod.

Ok, so if you dont know what program is being used to play the sounds, so it wouldnt have to be from FMOD, what you could do is just monitor the WaveOut device and have your screensaver react to everything that is coming out if the speaker. Try [url:2u3fn2rk]http://www.planetsourcecode.com[/url:2u3fn2rk] to find some code that will do this. Auf Wiedersehen.

my little addition:
fmod is a libary, winamp a player. a darn cool player btw 😛

but these are two diffrent things seven. fmod is for playing music. what you have to do is to hook into direct sound and then visualize the data. nothing to do with fmod.

i cant help you with that, but i suggest using fmod for PLAYING music 😛
