I realize that this is already possible by opeing the music type we want but I was wondering if its possible to get some type of codex info without having to init fmod. A function like GetMediaInfo( &stMediaInfo, sizeof( stMediaInfo ) ); I realize that the info would be different for music and other formats but that would be upto us to pull the info from the modified data.

Mainly song name, patterns, rows, patternlenght, ect for music, and lenght, bytes, name, genre, author for id3 supporting ect… The more info we could attain on a piece the better. Any data where nothing is avilable could be NULL or 0 where appropriate..

We would of course fill out the filename in the mdiainfo structure. This would allivate alot of headache i’am sure on most fronts.

Just a thought.

Well the reason is obvious, first when creating playlists while the user is already playing a tune, it would be nice to not have to worry about create additional overhead code to read media info.

Also it would be nice to know ‘how many’ channels you will need when playing it,xm,s3m ect without having to load the module examine it and what not. then reinitalize fmod with numer the channels to what you will need.

Again this is not a priority but figured that it could be done weithout adding alot of overhead to the fmod lib, if not don’t worry about it. I’am more or less just attempting to make a suggestion that would ease things on the development front using the library, as you could attain all the media info you wanted without even having to initialize fmod.

Anyhow thanks in advance.
