I upgraded our proprietary SH3 platform to CE 3.0 and are now able to run the fmod sample application using 340 final.

The sample app as it ships “ticks” many times per second after FSOUND_Init(22050, 1, FSOUND_INIT_GLOBALFOCUS). I added a FSOUND_SetBufferSize(512) and it now ticks about once a second with the ticks doubled up every few ticks.

Playing plain PCM wav files there is a short pause that appears to roughly coincide with the ticks (but maybe not quite in sync, its hard to tell). CPU usage is around 3%.

Finally, I have tried a 96k mp3 file. It plays just noise, with pauses a few times a second. I can’t make out the ticks from the noise. The CPU starts at 3%, and ramps up to around 35% after 10 or so seconds of “play”.

I am going to try some tests with my 720 jornada tomorrow to see if it fares any better. With a 2.11 api release I could also test a vadem clio c-1000, and a hp jornada 620.

It appears to be correct. I just unzipped a fresh copy. fmodce.dll is 224768 bytes, same as on the machine. The previous dll was 121344 bytes. I renamed the new dll and the exe fails to start, so I am sure it is not picking up a stray old dll or anything like that.

This is on SH3.
