I am trying to play streams to a specific port, but i am not sure that i am doing it properly.

I am trying to create a custom broadcaster in WIN32 using FMOD. i create the stream and it plays fine. However, when i run my shoutcast server, it says that it can’t find any sources. SO i set the proxy using
FSOUND_Stream_Net_SetProxy(“localhost:8000”). no errors, but i don’t think that works. I have tried running that line before and after FSOUND_Init.. but it is the same.

Am i missing something progammatically?

I am using VB….

FMOD doesn’t do SHOUTcast broadcasting, it only does playback. Fortunately, forum member KarLKoX has written a dll that allows you to use winamp plugins from your FMOD program so you can use winamp’s SHOUTcast plugin to do your broadcasting from your FMOD program.

Get KarLKoX’s dll here :

And the winamp SHOUTcast plugin here :

Ok. There’s a good chance FMOD4 will support broadcasting natively so check back in a few months if you still need a solution.

Hi, Andrew.

Any projected timeframe for the release of v4 with this broadcast/source funtionality? This functionality is exactly the reason I went looking for streaming libraries today!

We’re closing in on an Alpha release of FMOD4 in the next month or so but internet broadcasting won’t be in for quite a while I’m afraid. Probably months after the alpha.

Bummer. By then I’ll probably have lost the opportunity to be first-to-market. :-/

Wow, great!

Although FMOD4 was originally pronounced for summer 2003 somewhere I am glad to here there will be an alpha soon.
And the broadcasting looks promising is it going to work with the new plugin structure, so x kb fmod x + y kb fmod & broadcasting?

Well, why don’t you pay them, sure they can arrange something, I think they are doing a real great job (especially because it is for free).

Andrew, is it possible to already release a small preview list of features coming with the FMOD4 alpha?

Check out the FMOD4 forum for details on what we’re working on. The alpha will probably contain most of the things in the feature list up to the heading “3D Sound enhancements”. But don’t quote me on that – we may decide to exclude/include certain features for the alpha if we deem it necessary so I can’t give you a definite answer right now.
