I test the executable in 2 machines (Athlon 1200, 256Mb, Sound Blaster Live!, Windows Xp and Duron 900, 128Mb, Onboard Sound, Windows 98) with DirectX 8.1 and the sound was listened interrupted continually.
Then I installed DirectX 9 and everything worked perfectly. Is it absolutely necessary to have DirectX9?
Fmod is initialized with:
FSOUND_SetOutput FSOUND_OUTPUT_DSOUND
FSOUND_SetBufferSize 100
FSOUND_Stream_SetBufferSize 1000
FSOUND_Init(44100, 2, FSOUND_INIT_ACCURATEVULEVELS Or FSOUND_INIT_GLOBALFOCUS Or FSOUND_INIT_ENABLEOUTPUTFX)
stream(1) = FSOUND_Stream_Open(FileName, FSOUND_MPEGACCURATE + FSOUND_STEREO, 0, 0)

FMod works fine on my computer (also when using dx7)

I see the problem in machines with clean instalation of Windows. Only install DirectX 8.1.
If I install Windows Media Player 7 or 9, it install aditional codecs and the problem is solved 😮 .
