I think this is messing up my Half-Life mod, I’ve included it in the compiler settings but where do I actually put fmodvc.lib?

In your $LIB_PATH ( tools->options->”show directories for” library file )

OK, but that is c:program filesmicrosoft visual studiovc98lib, and that won’t work for other people I give the DLL to. Do you know where they have to put it (at the moment we have a huge bug which means they can’t use it, which we believe is related to this)?

As far as I know you don’t need to distribute lib files.
They are required for compiling, but after compiling, the .exe and the fmod.dll are enough.

What you have to do is put the .lib and the .h somewhere where your compiler finds them. Include them in your program ( the .lib via #pragma comment(lib, “fmodvc.lib”) ) and compile. Now give your friends the executable and the .dll. It suffices to put the .dll in the same directory as the .exe
