I have written a program which can extract CD’s to make MP3’s. Now when I use this program on my computer it extracts/plays very nicely but when I go to a friends house it can take an hour++ to extract one song to a wave file. It is also very slow when playing songs using CDDA, but plays fine when I use your standard CD playback functions.

My friend has quite an old computer:
Pentium III 650
128MB RAM
SIS 620 Chipset
48X CD-ROM

But surely this should handle CDDA extraction.

Thanks for the great System.

Its not his computer because I have an older computer:
Pentium II 266 mhz
96 mb RAM
24x CD-ROM

And CDDA extraction takes a matter of minutes. Check your code for problems because Im sure it would work fine on slower computers.

Check with CDex or EAC if the problem is with FMOD

jep, cdda seems to be slow on my pc too (e.g. my dvd can 8x cdda with other programs but sound stutters with fmod cdda… but it works without problems with my cdrom, which can up to 24x cdda)
Well, standart cd playback is still supported :)
And cdda is working slow, but working

I don’t suppose you could explain what CDex and EAD is.

[url:27bpxw0p]http://www.cdex.n3.net/[/url:27bpxw0p] CDex is a cd ripper (just like Exact Audio Copy) so you can save your cd to wav, mp3 and a lot of other formats
