It is not a viable solution : when you compose a soundtrack, you can jump to a pattern and return to a previous one wich not says that the song looped or reached the end. (as Brett say it)
Testing if a pattern allready played will break the song.

do you not want to let the developer or the user to decide?
XMMS, Deliplayer, WinAMP, mikmod. All of these player have the option to enable or disable the looping in the mod files.
A lot of game mods (Flashback, Pinball Fantasie, Wing Commander) loops infinitely.
the jump from the last back to first pattern.

@Controller
look at KarLKoX post.

@brett
this only about 15-20 rows of source code in the limmikmod, and i dont think that makes this thing buggier.

Somewhere there is a sticky on calculating or at least approxamtly calcuating a mod’s lenght try using that, it works quite well acutally.

Jepp, just found that sticky.
I’m going to test it this evening.

Thx

When using FMUSIC_GetOrder you’ll get the same result if the tracker file really jumps to an already played pattern ‘order’. This is not affected of the order the patterns are played.
(Hard to explain for a non-good-english-speaking man, but if you are familiar with mods, I suppose you know what I mean)
