Hi,

I’m using fmod to play an ogg vorbis stream both on linux and in windows. On Linux I get a 750ms delay in FSOUND_Stream_GetTime return value if I compare to values that I get on Windows.

I checked this on 2 computers.

This is a big problem because this is a realtime demonstration and sincro is critical. Can I assume that 750ms is constant? Why can this be happening?

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Both computers I checked have a es1371 sound card with 2.4.2x kernel.

I’ve just checked using esd daemon and I get a 250ms delay instead of 750ms, even if I set FSOUND_SetBufferSize(50).

I don’t have ALSA drivers installed sorry.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Maybe’re right brett. I’ll try to check on another soundcard to be sure all works right. Anyways I think I can see other realtime sincronized programs without delay using OSS, but I’m not sure about it right now. I can check it if you’d like.

Thanks a lot :)

Hi,

Good, if you find a way to solve this I can help to test it if you’d like.

Thank you.
