I just ran into an odd… feature. At least on my system, and those of my teammates, initializing FMOD to a mixing framerate of 44100 hertz (via FSOUND_Init) and attempting to stream a 44100 hertz MP3 results in playback at 0.91 (44.1/48) times the original playback rate. Changing the mixer’s framerate to other non-48000 hertz framerates resulted in a variety of incorrect playback rates. (ie, a rate of 24000 hertz made the stream play fo exactly twice as long, and at half the pitch)

Of course, the final solution to this problem, which was almost barely detectable by many of our non-musician team members, was to simply permanently change the mixer framerate to 48000 hertz.

So… is this a bug? (I searched the documentation, and the message board, and couldn’t find anything mentioning this issue)

Are you sure aren’t you using ASIO output mode?

It’s curious, but streams do have interpolation of any kind? For example, if I play a compressed 44.1 KHz ogg with a mixer sampling frequency of 48.0 KHz why I hear distortions like a uninterpolated mod?

I was using DSound on Windows2000.

Thank you for the suggestions, I’ll try it out once this madness passes by. (The game is due tomorrow! :o)
