I would like to create a “generic” parametric EQ application. The purpose of this is to start the application, set up param eq parameters and I want that filter to affect ALL sound that is played on the computer. Is that possible? Any suggestions?
I am relatively new to sound programming so please excuse me if this question is out of order.

To do what you want, you need low level control of hardware resources, and fmod controls software resource (and some high level hardware).
If you have SBLive/Audigy cards you may try kx Audio drivers that will let you control all the features of the card, including applying a Parametric EQ to all the sounds coming from the card.
This is almost exactly what Brett said before: you need a different driver that allow this.
Unfortunately that is exactly what I would like to do, apply parametric EQ to all sounds that computer is playing. I have seen that creative is supplying softvare for creating “listening environments”. I suppose these are created using composite effects (reverb, param eq etc.). These “listening environments” are applied to all sounds computer is playing. To simplify explanations, I would like to create my own listening environment that will affect all sounds played by computer.
I am aware that this has probably nothing to do wih fmod, but any help, suggestions or links would be much appreciated.
