Hi

I am unable to get cdda to work on my windows box, using fmod 3.72.
Using the cdda example application I just get:
ERROR: Couldn’t access CD/DVD device at w:
and testing the cddarip app gives me a:
ERROR: Invalid track number

I tried several cd’s all show up fine with .cda tracks in explorer. Am I missing something ?

Does CDDA work with other programs like Winamp, CDEX etc? What OS and machine specs are you running? Do you have more than one CD drive?

Works fine with Exact Audio Copy, and foobar2000 as player,

Windows XP, using fmod 3.72 – drive is Plextor [PX-W4824A]. The machine also has an ASUS DVD-ROM E616. Both rip fine using Exact Audio copy.

Thanks for the info. Can you do me a favour and grab this program :

[url:3tkws4c2]http://www.fmod.org/files/cddatest.zip[/url:3tkws4c2]

It just tries to do some tests using CDDA. Could you run it and send me the fmodcdda.log file that it creates?

Cheers,

This problem was solved offline – it was an ASPI vs NTSCSI issue for which there’ll be a fix in the next incremental release.

Using the fmod sample (v3.73) with FMOD (v3.74)

I get the same error:
ERROR: Couldn’t access CD/DVD device at i:

When I disable “Digital Playback” everything goes fine, with and without ASPI.
Other programs like WinAmp and CDEx work well.
Here are the last few lines from the generated fmodcdda.log created using the test tool.

[code:2lfwxtut]

Edit:
I am using a Lite-On DVDRW LDW-851S on a Windows XP desktop
My other drive Lite-On LTR52246S give the following error:
ERROR: Device not ready (Make sure there’s a CD/DVD in the drive!)
Well there is a CD in the drive, polling the Device info on this drive gives
[code:2lfwxtut]
NTSCSI
AXV CD/DVD-ROM 2.1b
[/code:2lfwxtut]
Polling the first device (the DVDRW) gives
ERROR: Couldn’t access CD/DVD device at i:

Something is wrong with my setup, I have another XP session on the same pc (dual boot) in which Digital Playback works fine, polling the 2 drives gives me
[code:2lfwxtut]
NTSCSI
LITE-ON LTR-52246S 6S0A
NTSCSI
LITE-ON DVDRW LDW-851S GS0F
[/code:2lfwxtut]

Anyone any help what is wrong?

Solved.

I had a virtual drive mounted under Alcohol 120% with the following info
NTSCSI
AXV CD/DVD-ROM 2.1b
It was mounted as L: but somehow disabled digital playback from i:
unmounting this virtual drive solved all above problems.

Still strange.
