edit: wrong forum -> please move to (general discussions)… thx

Question: i need a fast method to check wheter a file can be opened and played with fmod or not… (to do file a media file scan on disk..)

at the moment it seems to be that i have to fsound_stream_open() AND a fmusic_loadSong() on each file to check whether we have a stream (like mp3, wav, ogg, wma…) or if we have a module..

any experiences with this task?

thx

no – i think they just had enough time to highly optimize there file-scan mechanisms. maybe they do some fast bin detection first and only if the file has known traces they go through there real open mechanisms.. by the way – i have many modules without extensions at all. they are left over from the good old amiga times…
