About a year ago I was designing a music program with FMod and gave up because I couldn’t figure out how to properly change the frequency of a sample.

What I want to do is load a sample and be able to change its frequency simply by hitting the keys from ‘Q’ to ‘P’ like playing the piano.

I havn’t tried FMod new version out yet since i’m at work right now but am wondering if any of you know if setFrequency is a new function? It’s been a while since I played around with this API.

Is it ok to change the channel frequency all the time?

Thanks,
Robert

FSOUND_SetFrequency is a “new” function now, you can play with it for whatever you want

Ahh yes… I tried it last night and it worked like a charm. I’m surprised that it wasn’t in the earlier versions.

One of my first projects with fmod that uses SetFrequency extensively is dated 6/7/2000…

Well, considering such a function isn’t in the SDL audio library, it’s still great that it’s there. One of things you can put endless time in if you have to do things yourself (to get it fast and smooth).
