In my audio manager I’m going to support playlists, where every stream will be opened for all time, no closing when it has ended etc. Sound player will share similiar design – FSOUND_SAMPLEs are going to be opened at the beginning (here: loaded into memory) and closed only when the game is going to be closed.
I’m going to use .ogg for sounds and .ogg and .mp3 for “music” (huge, streamed files) and I’m just curious – will such system be too much memory wasteful, or will keeping opened too many streams be impossible ie. due to some limit cap? So, could it take too much resources, or eat too much CPU cycles?
