Was playing around w/ the new FMOD for iPhone (4.21.03) and the examples for recording and pitch detection hang both in the simulator and on a real iPhone. I tested Debug 2.2 on the iPhone and 2.1 and 2.2 on the emulator. The pitch detection hangs on startup. The recording example hangs more erratically, seemingly when the 5 second timer is up.

I have tested with iPhone SDK 2.2 now, the simulator is still experiencing problems with recording. I have updated our ticket with Apple regarding this so hopefully it will be full resolved soon.
I haven’t experienced any hangs on the device with recording at all though. I have tested quite a bit this morning with the recording example and the 2.2 SDK. The next version of the iPhone release will be built against 2.2 so that may resolve the issues you were having.
If you continue to have recording problems on the device (especially after our next release) let us know and I will take a closer look.
The hang in the simulator is a known issue (you can see it mentioned in the platform specific docs for the iphone). My testing with iPhone SDK 2.0 and 2.1 indicated that it worked fine on the device though.
I have not yet done any testing with iPhone SDK 2.2 (I will do this later today and get back to you with my results).
I have an outstanding support ticket with Apple about the recording problems, they say it’s fixed in 2.2 (I have yet to confirm) but it sounds like it isn’t.
