Is it possible wtih FMOD EX on an iPhone/iPad to do extreme time stretching with pitch compensation (e.g. 50x). Such as described on this web page:

Unfortunately it is not, FMOD has a built in pitch shifting DSP which can pitch correct for a speed change of 2x, so double or half speed only. You would need to implement a 3rd party DSP pitch shifting algorithm to achieve 50x with FMOD
Well a third party Pitch-Shifter is definetefly NOT the solution for his problem!
Since I am very deep in this matter I can say the only way to get real good results is to replace the resampler as I ask here:
http://220.127.116.11/forum/viewtopic.php … =resampler
Since you guys at fmod don’t seem to build a plugin interface for those purposes, I am replacing fmod by my own mixing routines step by step.
Just think about this:
For time stretching matters you propose to pitch shift and inverse frequency pitch the sound. When you do so with a factor of 1.2 or maybe till a factor of 2 this might be sufficient but you are loosing sample resolution because of a dithering in the Pitchshifter and in the Resampler itself. For higher quality time stretching it is a must to replace the resampler, since a SOLA time stretcher don’t need to have a pitch shifter.
