What would be best approach be to get fmod (incl. the designer library) working with Unity 3D for the Android platform? There doesn’t seem to be much information out there how to do such a thing (also not in the forums or docs of Unit’y page).

As for the iOS part the Unity FMod implementation is not the same fmod that we can download. It seems to be a specially modified version and will not give us all the functionality we require. When we originally tried to compile the iOS project with the fmod library I got a duplicate symbol error because some of the functions in the FMod library are duplicated inside of unity itself.

I’ve already found this [url:3e6vah5f]http://www.squaretangle.com/FMODUnity.html[/url:3e6vah5f] page but after contacting Squaretangle they said they stopped developing it in 2009 already and it would not work with the new version of Unity.

We are kind of stuck right now whether it is possible at all to get fmod to work also on Android. So far if we export the project to iOS the sound is there, as for Android not.

Hi tarr1, I’m not really sure what would be involved or if it is even possible. Based on my coversations with Unity people, linking native code libraries is not supported on iOS/Android. You would have to contact someone at Unity to know for sure though.

The details about FMOD that you need are:

On iOS FMOD is a static .a library
On Android FMOD is a dynamic .so library

FMOD is native code (written in C++)

You should be able to just ask if it’s possible to link those kinds of libraries on those platforms to know if it is possible.
