We noticed while playing around with the parameters demo for iOS, we could disable the timer that calls EventSystem::update() every 0.01 seconds and sounds still play and the sliders still function as normal.

So we’re curious as to what exactly EventSystem::update() does. Is it needed for 3D position updates? Are we going to get into trouble by not calling it?

It does quite a few important things and you will quickly run into trouble if you’re not calling it. For example, one important thing that it does is the channel recycling, so if you never call system update the system will run out of channels. Overall there isn’t a set list of things that it does, it just does all the general house keeping, it is important to make sure you call it regularly.
