For Example I have 6 different Characters with the same Animations.

I would like the characters to have different VO grunts with the Same SFX for each animation.

(Ideally, I would like the player to be able to choose a voice (1 through 6) and have that attached to whatever character they decide upon;

Is there a way to accomplish this in FMOD?

I assume that by ‘SFX’ you mean effects applied to the audio samples played by FMOD events. If so, then yes, it is entirely possible.

You could, for example, create a single multi-track event with a parameter, and position sound defs representing each grunt type such that you can decide which one will play based on the parameter value, and place effects affecting those sounds on other parameters. You could also create a single sound def containing a programmer sound, put that sound def in an event containing the effects you want, and handle which sound file plays when in game code. You could even create multiple events and copy and paste layers between them as a way of keeping them similar.

I suspect that the programmer sound solution would be best for your game, but I can’t say for sure without more information about your situation.
