I am currently finishing up a PC game, and everything is working perfectly on Windows 7 and Vista computers. However, when I test the game on my Windows XP machine the sound does not play at all. I’ve run the game compiled on my Win7 machine, as well as compiling the code on my XP machine. I’ve stepped through everything in the debugger on XP, and I’m not getting any errors. Everything matches what I am seeing on my Win7 machine. The XP machine is using Realtek HD Audio driver version 5.10.0.6873, DirectX 9.0, and the audio codec listed in the Realtek driver is ALC3220. The fmod example projects play sounds fine on my XP machine, so I’m not sure whats going on.

I thought it may have just been a driver problem on my computer, but I’ve also had one other user on XP report no sound playing as well.

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated!

UPDATE:

If I call "system->setOutput(FMOD_OUTPUTTYPE_WAVWRITER)" and listen to the recorded wav file afterwards, everything sounds like it should. But none of the other Win32 options (FMOD_OUTPUTTYPE_DSOUND, FMOD_OUTPUTTYPE_WINMM, FMOD_OUTPUTTYPE_WASAPI, FMOD_OUTPUTTYPE_ASIO) produce any sound at all.
