How can I create an event which will interrupt itself, while not introducing any clicking artefacts?

I’m trying to make a mouse-over event, which has a high probability of the user triggering the event again before the last one is over. I’ve tried applying a fade-out to the event, and while having very high values does seem to help the situation, it does not guarantee that there will be no click when the event stops.

I am testing this in Designer 4.44.19 by simply pressing the play button and then the stop button as soon as I can. For comparison’s sake, I am able to apply a 9 ms fade-out effect to the file in Audacity and I don’t hear any noticeable artefacts (clicking, popping) no matter where in the waveform I choose to fade out.

So, Is this a bug, or what is the best way to achieve what I am trying to do?

Thanks much!
