Hey all,

I am programming a music visualizer. For this I want to grab the sound that is being processed and output by the soundcard (i.e. everything that is being played by the user from any source, e.g. youtube, spotify, mediaplayer etc.)
I took a look at the ‘record’ example, but this only allows to me to select a ‘record device’, e.g. the microphone attached to the computer. However, this does not work when using headphones or if you don’t have a microphone attached.
Is there any way to just grab the wave that is being output by the soundcard?

Thx for your time!

Currently the only way to do this is record from the ‘stereo mix’ device. If you take a look at your Windows recording devices, depending on your sound card / drivers you may have a disabled device called ‘stereo mix’ that you can enable then record from with FMOD.

Thank you,

it turns out that my Cirrus Logic soundcard does not support the stereo mix recording device :/
