Use of both 44.1kHz and 48kHz

Just wondering if using samples from two different sample rates is going to be a problem. The music is all 44.1 and the sound effects are all 48. Is this going to cause problems down the road?

Everything does seem to be working fine. But I am wondering… is it actually playing different sample rates at run time? Are they being converted? How can I know?

Hi Brent,

Yes, you can mix and match sample rates within your project with no problems. The sample rates are applied when you build the banks, so your assets are being converted.

You can tell by building your project and comparing the file size of the banks at the different sample rates.

Thanks,
Richard

If the project is converting a sample rate to another sample rate, could this create audible pops or clicks in loops that were previously seamless?

I have actually not noticed any problems yet, and am a little confused as to why I am not noticing these problems, as converting a 44.1 seamless loop to 48 for example would cause a tiny but audible pop in a loop

Hi Brent,

Our resampler is loop aware, it takes care of preserving the interpolation fractional across the loop boundary. This is why you don’t hear any pops when resampling.

Richard
